#116: The Regions of Scotland ft. Springbank 10yr Single Malt Scotch (Audio Only)
Thursday Jul 27, 2023
Thursday Jul 27, 2023
The world of Scotch Whisky is rich with different intricacies and flavor profiles, and one such characteristic that is often discussed is the "region" in which a Scotch is produced. In this episode, I break down the regions of Scotland: Highland, Lowland, Speyside, Islay, and Campbeltown, and I even briefly discuss a sub-region of the highlands known as the Islands. Of course, I also do a full review of Springbank 10yr, a single malt scotch from the Campbeltown region of Scotland.

Thursday Jul 27, 2023
Thursday Jul 27, 2023
Lagavulin 16yr is the most expensive Islay Scotch that we have had on the show so far, but does it live up to the price tag?! In this episode, I walk through a tasting of it with Connor Gilbert, the host of "Who Gives a Dram" and co-host of "Bourbon with Friends" (@connor_whiskey on Instagram). Connor gives us a rundown of his trip to the Islay region of Scotland while walking us through a tasting of this delightful whisky.

If you've been in the whiskey world for any amount of time, odds are you've seen some snobbery at it's finest. These two guests embody what it means to be whiskey enthusiasts WITHOUT the side of snobbery. Ryan Mills (ThatOneDudeRyan) and Ryan Shaner (OneBigPikey) are two whiskey lovers who run successful media channels, all while keeping it inviting and NOT snobbish. In this episode, we talk about a few things that we see people do that come across "snobbish", and why those people could be missing out on a great time. We talk everything from extreme tasting notes to budget bourbons that could go head to head with some of the rarest bottles. Finally, we round it out with a quick review of Evan Williams Bottled In Bond

#120: Craft Distillers w/ American Mash & Grain ft Borrowed Page Vol 2
Sunday Aug 13, 2023
Sunday Aug 13, 2023
Craft distillers are creating a very exciting time in the American whiskey market. Sometimes, with all of these new distillers popping up, it is difficult to keep track of all of the stories and people who make up this industry. Today's guests, Chase and Devin from American Mash & Grain, help to accomplish exactly that. They write up articles on some of the country's best craft distillers which helps the reader to get to know the distiller on a level that creates a true appreciation for the craft. Along the way, they decided to work with these distillers to create limited release blends of some of the best craft whiskey the country has to offer, known as Borrowed Page, which of course we review

#121 - The Warchief with Graham McTavish
Sunday Aug 20, 2023
Sunday Aug 20, 2023
Esteemed Actor Graham McTavish is known for award winning films and series such as The Hobbit, Rambo, The Witcher, and Outlander, to name a few. He grew up in Scotland, where scotch whisky was of course the popular beverage of choice. When his acting career brought him to the United States, a single romantic experience with bourbon ignited what grew into a passion for the spirit. That passion has now produced "The Warchief", McTavish's first ever whiskey release. This 7yr Bottled-in-Bond Bourbon is the first of many releases for McTavish Spirits, which you can find at https://mctavishspirits.com/

#122: Refining your Whiskey Palate ft Middle West Spirits Bourbon
Sunday Aug 27, 2023
Sunday Aug 27, 2023
I get asked all the time: how do you prepare your palate for a whiskey tasting? How do you refine your palate to get better at detecting less obvious flavors? In this episode I cover what I do, and more importantly, what you can do, to improve your ability to taste a whisky. To demonstrate the changes your palate can have, I do a review of Middle West Spirits Straight Wheated Bourbon Whiskey... then I eat jalepenos and do it again.

#124 - National Bourbon Heritage Month and Barrel Picks
Sunday Sep 10, 2023
Sunday Sep 10, 2023
Is September National Bourbon Heritage Month? That's actually not as straight forward as you might think, but in this episode, I break it down. In honor of the month, I review a bourbon very near and dear to me - my first ever barrel pick! For those who missed the pick, I also walk through the flavor notes of Blue Note Juke Joint in general, and compare to what I taste in my barrel pick, which is the Uncut and Unfiltered version of Juke Joint. Lastly, I discuss what to expect from my next pick, which is coming soon.
